An Education
The British film, An Education, is an excellent reminder of the vulnerability felt by teens and parents of teens. Set in 1961 London and inspired by a memoir, this film defies stereotyping hard working academically achieving youth. The link below includes the words of the person who inspired the film, Lynn Barber. Give it a read and if you haven’t yet seen this film, do yourself a favor and take yourself to the theater. It’s a gem of a period piece and a reminder that we all deserve to learn from our mistakes. Poor judgment does not reflect personal failure and punitive responses from adults doesn’t help young people move forward with the strength to change and grow.
